KRYPTO-NATE!! Nate Robinson Wins Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

In order to beat defending Sprite Slam Dunk champion Superman Dwight Howard, New York Knick guard and 2006 Slam Dunk Champion Nate Robinson had to break out the Kprytonite. Going to the locker room before the final round started, 5'9" Robinson came out with a green Knicks jersey, green ball, green Nike shoes and then proceeded to jump over the 7 foot Howard and dunk. This dunk pretty much nailed down and allowed flowers to be thrown on the coffin containing Howard's hopes of repeating. Then Lebron James decided to steal these boys shine and make it all about himself by declaring he wanted to participate in next year's contest in Dallas. First of all Lebron, let the contest actually end before making it all about you. Secondly, I watched you win the high school dunk contest and I have to say you had no creativity at all. I dare to say you won because of your name, and not the weak dunks you displayed. Guys like Howard, Robinson, and J.R. Smith have worked hard to bring this contest back from the dead, and we don't need you to help bring it back down. If you're coming, go to the lab and bring your A-Game!

Here's a highlight video of the contest: (Big props to the dunk by Rudy Fernandez that Pau Gasol bounced off the back of the backboard. Would have scored higher if it didn't take 10 attempts!)

A-Fraud! Rodriguez Admits Using Steroids.

It's official folks! New York Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez is undeniably the most exciting player in baseball. To reach this acheivement, you have to be able to keep things interesting all year around. This guy has had one hell of an offseason. He started the offseason with news that he was getting a divorce. Then we found out he was dating the Material Girl herself, Madonna. Then Madonna leaves him for some even younger meat. After that, Los Angeles Dodger coach Joe Torre writes a book that dogs A-Rod out, saying that teammates were referring to him as "A-Fraud". And now we have the biggest news of all. Rodriguez admits to using steroids. WTF! Is there a clean, legitimate player left in the game? What's next, Ken Griffey Jr. gets popped? Lance Berkman? (Don't worry Berkman, as long as you keep the Beer Belly, we'll know you're clean!) Rodriguez was supposed to be baseball's savior, the one who chased down Barry Bond's home run record and made it legit. There's no point to looking for someone else to be that guy, since there's no telling who's clean anymore. They might as well stop fighting it and just recognize Bonds as the man. There is no denying that after Bonds started on the HGH (Human Growth Hormone), he became the single most feared hitter in the game. The guy was already a great natural hitter, just as Rodriguez was, before he started bulking up. Using performance enhancing drugs (PED's) just made these guys take balls out of the park that they were usually hitting off of the outfield wall for doubles. Let's relate that to other sports. In 2007, Tiger Woods' driving accuracy (meaning the percentage of times he hit the fairway off the tee) was 59.83%. He was 152nd on Tour in this category, but he still finished first in scoring average at 67.79. Now imagine if he hit 80% of the fairways. They would have to make the fairways narrow as credit cards for anyone to have a chance. How about Shaquille O'neal in his hayday. What if he were a 90% free throw shooter. They would have had to change the rules to be able to stop him from dominating. That's what PED's did for Bonds and Rodriguez. It allowed them to put up unbelivable stats, when a guy like Hank Aaron did it by just being consistent, never hitting over 47 home runs in a single season at 6'0" 180 lbs. Think about that.

One Hell Of A Catch!!

Well folks, I'm back to reality from Tampa, Fl where I had a hell of a weekend and enjoyed watching one hell of a game at one hell of a Super Bowl Party! Big ups to my boy Freddie Dixon for hosting the party, and hopefully we'll make it an annual event. Like a BIG DUMMY, I left my camera in my car at the airport in Houston, but hopefully I can get some pics from my boy Charlie Brown that I can post on the site. Now let's get to the game. As I predicted, Pittsburgh made Arizona move away from establishing a run game, and the Steelers pulled it out in the end with a great drive by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and a tremendous catch by the Super Bowl MVP receiver Santonio Holmes. I didn't think the catch by David Tyree in last year's big game could be topped, but considering this catch was for a game winning touchdown, plus the ability to get both feet down put this catch over the top. There was a little controversy over Holmes' celebration and whether or not he should have been flagged after he did the Lebron James powder shower with the ball.

He did use the ball as a prop, but how many of YOU actually knew what he was doing, let along the referees. Give me your opinion on which catch you thought was better between Tyree's and Holmes by clicking on the headline and posting a comment. Here is video of Tyree's catch.

My Super Bowl Pick

By the time most of you read this, I will be in Tampa, Fl, site of Super Bowl XLIII (That's 43 for the Roman numeral impaired) between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals. I actually do not have an interest in either team. But I've decided I will root for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Why you ask? Check out the Versace shades that Pittsburgh coach Omar Epps...oops, I mean Mike Tomlin sports on the sideline. Those are some of the coldest shades I've ever seen on anybody, let alone a football coach. I'm trying to find some for myself. Plus Pittsburgh's defense will stop the running game the Cardinals are trying establish, but who cares about X's and O's. The coolest looking coach in the league will add a ring with bling to match the Versace's. Now let me get out my credit card and find these damn shades!

Houston Cougars Stomp Arizona (Literally!!)

Houston Cougar junior guard Aubrey Coleman stomped his way into the news Saturday when on a sideline collision with Arizona forward Chase Budinger, he was called for a charge and then proceeded to step on Budinger's face. Here's the apology by Coleman:

OK. You had me, Dog! I was buying everything you were selling in your apology. When I first saw the video, I just knew you stepped on Budinger on purpose. You made no attempt to check on him after you used his teeth as a footstool. Then it looked like you were celebrating on the sideline about it. But then as I'm watching the apology, you changed my opinion. I was actually believing you didn't mean to do it. But, as people usually do, you talked a little too much and said, "He's one of my favorite players..." As the great Fred G. Sanford would say, "YOU BIG DUMMY!!" Everyone was buying the apology until you said that. I might have bought it if you were talking about Arizona guard Nic Wise, since he is from Houston like you are. But Chase Budinger? Gotta learn when to stop talking, man. By the way, Coleman was suspended one game for the incident.

McGahee Will Make Full Recovery After Vicious Hit

Clark Hit On McGahee
by beisbolct Credit Cards

Willis McGahee, running back of the Baltimore Ravens, has been told by doctors that he will make a full recovery after a vicious hit by Pittsburgh Steeler safety Ryan Clark led him to be carted off of the field. "I blacked out. I woke up when they were taking my face mask off," McGahee said. "I opened my eyes and I was talking. The next thing I knew I woke up in some room and they were taking me to the ambulance."

Now the big debate seems to be whether or not the hit was legal. Clark led with his shoulder, but the impact of the hit caused them to hit helmet-to-helmet. In my eyes, it was legal, but only because McGahee had caught the ball and had turned and ran a couple of steps with it. That makes it legal according to league rules. Now if he had been in the act of catching the ball, then he would had been considered a defenseless player, and Ryan Clark would be at a Super Bowl Party watching the game instead of playing in it. That being said, just because it was legal, doesn't mean it was necessary. Clark was down on the turf for awhile also and could have easily been going to the hospital with McGahee, all because he wanted to make the highlight hit instead of wrapping the man up and maybe then jarring the ball loose. Everyone (including myself) loves the big hit, but there's a time to play smart because you can easily make the big hit, and be the one getting front row parking at the mall in your tricked out wheelchair equipped handicap van.
